If you were on HWY 64 in the Ocoee River Gorge this past Tuesday, you may have seen numbers of people on the sides of the road and down by the river picking up trash. This was not the adopt-a-mile program, it was the guides & staff of the many Ocoee rafting companies taking part in the 2010 Ocoee River Cleanup. On this particular river clean up, the Big Frog crew was nowhere to be found on the side of the highway but you could find them at the Middle Ocoee Put-in. After the trash was gathered by all of the volunteers, it was transported to the Middle Ocoee Put-in where Big Frog Expeditions intercepted it. There, 17 members of the Big Frog Staff individually sorted through each bag of trash & salvaged many recyclable goods. The effort was organized by Rick Houlk, the owner of Big Frog Expeditions. Without Rick taking the initiative to organize this, many recyclable goods would have found their way into the dumpster instead of the recycling center. The Chattanooga Times covered this story, check it out here! http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2010/jun/09/rafters-recycle-river-rubbish/

As one of the premier rafting companies on the Ocoee River in Southeast Tennessee, the Ocoee gained most of its notoriety and fame following the 1996 Olympics where it hosted the whitewater slalom event. With two amazing sections to chose from, the Ocoee River with Big Frog Expeditions is the total package for the outdoor enthusiast! Big Frog Expeditions is not only a specialist in whitewater rafting but also Guided Mountain Biking, Hiking, and Scenic Lake Kayaking. If whitewater rafting isn’t your thing or if you are looking for additional adventure activities while vacationing, check out our other adventure sports and get your adrenaline pumping.
Enough rambling and selling…we would like for you to use this blog to stay up-to-date on all of activities year round. Our season only lasts roughly 7 months and the river rafters go away, but we still are here. We are so fortunate to do what we do for a living and it is all because of YOU! Without our amazing customers, we could not do what we love. Thank you from all the Big Frog Staff!
