If you were on HWY 64 in the Ocoee River Gorge this past Tuesday, you may have seen numbers of people on the sides of the road and down by the river picking up trash. This was not the adopt-a-mile program, it was the guides & staff of the many Ocoee rafting companies taking part in the 2010 Ocoee River Cleanup. On this particular river clean up, the Big Frog crew was nowhere to be found on the side of the highway but you could find them at the Middle Ocoee Put-in. After the trash was gathered by all of the volunteers, it was transported to the Middle Ocoee Put-in where Big Frog Expeditions intercepted it. There, 17 members of the Big Frog Staff individually sorted through each bag of trash & salvaged many recyclable goods. The effort was organized by Rick Houlk, the owner of Big Frog Expeditions. Without Rick taking the initiative to organize this, many recyclable goods would have found their way into the dumpster instead of the recycling center.
